Training tool for professional dog training
Professional dog training places different demands on a tool than purely recreational use, because in police, military and mantrailing work it must function reliably across all training scenarios. A toy bought off the shelf does not meet these requirements.

Setup
What was needed was a training tool for professional dog training, used among others by police, military, and in mantrailing. The requirements for this went beyond those of a simple dog toy.
Assignment
The commission covered concept development, engineering design, development, and manufacture of a training tool made from soft plastic, where shape, colour, material, scent, and properties were to reflect the functions of all training scenarios.
The shape was developed to roll poorly and produce unpredictable bouncing behaviour. The holes were added so that the dog still gets enough air with the tool in its mouth. The colouring was matched to dichromatic dog vision. In addition, the tool can be fitted with any scent.
For the material, the choice fell on silicone: available in various finishes, food-safe and easy to wash, plus a glow-in-the-dark effect for working in poor light.
Result
The sixth prototype iteration is currently available. The product is being prepared for market entry.
