B1 · Product development
A new product – even outside your core competence.
Your development department has mastered its own portfolio. But there are also opportunities that lie outside your core business, in a field where you may not yet have had the chance to build up expertise. We help you lay that groundwork — project-based, without you having to hire anyone for it.
You might be familiar with this
Typical starting situations.
Know-how is missing
The idea for a new product line is there – but no one in-house has ever developed a product of this kind before.
The knowledge is there, the time is not
The know-how is available, but tied up in day-to-day business. Teach us your specialist knowledge and integrate us into your team. This way, you can draw on capacity whenever you need it.
No staffing risk for a single project
You first have to find the right employee, then train them, then employ them – with all the associated risks. That is not always the best strategy for every project.
The application identifies new potential
Customers often discover potential in how they use your product, or new needs arise for products and tools related to yours.
Service
What we deliver
- —Concept
- —Planning
- —Design
- —Prototyping
- —Testing
- —Design for Manufacturing
- —Risk assessment & Machinery Directive, from 20 January 2027 Machinery Regulation
- —CE marking & conformity assessment
We take on development as a whole – from idea to series production – or just the part for which you lack the capacity or the knowledge. Because we factor in risk assessment and conformity from the very beginning, the result is not a product that still has to be brought into conformity at the end, but one that already is, once the work is finalised. And because we want to understand what the product is being built for before development starts, you get a service whose decisions can be consistently traced back to that intended purpose.
Approach
How we can get started
The starting point is clarifying the task and defining the technical requirements. Building on this, we prepare a preliminary concept as a basis for further concept development. This allows the scope of development and costs to be estimated early on, avoiding additional charges later.
Conformity: what belongs to market readiness
- Risk assessment: We carry out the risk assessment according to EN ISO 12100 across the entire life cycle of the product. The results feed back into the design, because at this point changes are most cost-effective. As a form filled in at the end of a project, the risk assessment fulfils the obligation but forfeits its benefit.
- Determining standards: We work out which harmonised standards must be applied to your product and provide the corresponding justification. Outside the familiar product field, this is, from experience, precisely the point at which manufacturers ultimately fail.
- CE marking: We determine the applicable legal acts, carry out the conformity assessment, and prepare the declaration and marking so that you can sign the declaration of conformity on a sound technical basis.
- From the Machinery Directive to the Machinery Regulation: On 20 January 2027, EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive – with no transition period during which products could still be placed on the market under the old law. We therefore design developments that begin now according to the new Regulation from the outset.
Do you have a specific product in mind?
The more precisely you describe what you need, the more precisely we can tell you what it costs.
