Technical Project Management & Product Development for a Mobile Room
Bringing a modular outdoor room system to production readiness requires not only design work but also technical-normative development. Weather resistance, structural stability and operational safety must be verified according to the relevant standards so that a prototype becomes a saleable product.
Setup
The client had already had a prototype of the mobile room system built and wanted to bring it to the next iteration. The existing system was to be extended with a trailer solution and fitted with an electro-mechanical lifting system. At the same time, this was to become the outdoor variant of an existing indoor product. A room that stands outdoors is subject to considerably more demanding requirements than its indoor counterpart.
Assignment
We were commissioned with the concept development of the system, the creation of a comprehensive requirements specification and the certification documents. In addition, we took on technical project management and project leadership for the entire duration. The requirements specification made it possible to outsource production, as every supplier had a fully described unit to work from.
The requirements specification was the central document here: it brings together tables, calculations, cross-references to standards and design specifications into a single foundation. Over a project duration of several years, this keeps every requirement traceable, even as suppliers change.
Result
Production is well advanced but not yet complete. The project has been running since 2024.
